How does fitzgerald use gatsby's parties to present a satirical portrait of the roaring twenties?
tino4ka555 [31]
There is a lot of illegally shipped alcohol, which everyone gets's drunk and becomes rowdy. This was during the time prohibition was an illegal and organized crime involving "speakeasies" and such places that would smuggle alcohol. Many of guests were people who were usually dying to get in contact with Gatsby for maybe a job or some big break, they wanted to be rich and famous like him. It shows the "moral decay" and a huge amount of materialism that was running rampant in the 1920's when consumerism was on the rise. In the 1920's it was all fun and games until the huge economic depression of the 30's.

I need help with identifying direct and indirect objects
Jet001 [13]

Example 1: Dennis and Susan ate omelets for breakfast.

The subject is “Dennis and Susan,” and the verb is “ate.” Next ask yourself the question “who or what?” about the verb “ate.” What did the subject, Dennis and Susan, eat? They ate omelets. Therefore, the direct object is “omelets.”

Consider the following example to find the direct object that follows a clause or phrase:

Example 2: Sophia hates when her father lectures her about her grades.

The subject is “Sophia,” and the verb is “hates.” Next ask yourself the question “who or what?” about the verb “hates.” What does the subject, Sophia, hate? She hates “when her father lectures her about her grades.” This subordinate clause (a combination of words that contain a subject and a verb, but do not form a complete sentence) is the direct object of the sentence.
