Answer: $3,650

Explanation:

Alternative Minimum Tax ( AMT) can be used to lower the amount of taxes payable.

It is created when the tax payable is lower than AMT, it is carried forward and can reduce taxes Payable in future by the amount of the AMT credit.

The current AMT cycle of 2017 - 2022 allows for AMT credit to be refunded up to 50% of the excess of AMT credit over the normal tax liability with 100% being allowed in 2021.

The US corporate tax rate for 2019 is 21%.

Taxable Income = $170,000

Tax liability for 2019 = $170,000*21%

=$35,700

With a current tax liability of $35,700 being less than the AMT of $43,000, AMT will offset it.

Solving for yhe excess AMT Credit we have,

Excess AMT credit = AMT credit carryforward - Tax liability in 2019

= 43,000 - 35,700

= $7,300

The AMT Credit refunded can be calculated as,

AMT credit refunded = 50%*Excess AMT credit

= 50%*7,300

= $3,650

$3,650 is the amount of refund Cypress can expect to receive from its 2019 tax return filing.

Josh's weekly budget for lunch is $24. He eats only pizza and burgers. Each pizza costs $6 and each burger costs $3. Josh knows
egoroff_w [7]

Answer:

The answer is: Josh's utility maximizing point is when he buys 2 pizzas and 4 burgers.

Explanation:

If Josh gets equal marginal utility per dollar spent when buying one pizza and 2 burgers, that means that every pizza and every burger give Josh 10.67 utility unit per dollar spent. So Josh can obtain maximum 16 units of utility with his budget and his purchasing options (= $24 x 0.67 units of utility per dollar). The way he can maximize his utility is by buying two packs of one pizza and two burgers per pack, since every pack will give him 8 units of utility.

On April 1, Lewis Company paid $14,400 for two years of insurance in advance. Lewis Company recorded the transaction by debiting
Dominik [7]

Answer:

31 Dec       Expense A/c Dr.                      $5,400

                         To Prepaid Expense A/c                   $5,400

(Therefore, expense for the current financial year recorded)

Explanation:

We know that at the time of insurance paid in advance on 1 April for 2 years, entry was;

Prepaid Insurance A/c Dr.            $14,400

                 To Cash A/c                                      $14,400

Now at year end the expense relating to current period shall be recognized properly in the books, so that matching principle of revenue against expenses shall be matched.

Thus, period from 1 April to 31 December = 9 months

Expense for 9 months = 14,400 \times \frac{9}{24} = 5,400

That means expense for the year = $5,400

Therefore, entry for such recording will be:

31 Dec       Expense A/c Dr.                      $5,400

                         To Prepaid Expense A/c                   $5,400

(Therefore, expense for the current financial year recorded)

Hillside issues $2900000 of 9% 15-year bonds dated January 1, 2017, that pay interest semiannually on June 30 and December 31. T
DaniilM [7]

Answer:

Dr. Cash                                                 $3,549,590

Cr. Premium on Account Receivable  $649,590

Cr. Bond Payable Account                   $2,900,000

Explanation:

The difference between the face value of the bond and the sale value of the bond is known as premium or the discount on the bond. If the face value is higher from the sale value the bond is issued on the discount and if the sale value of the bond is higher than the face value the bond is issued on the premium.

Premium on the Bond =  Face value - Sale value = $3,549,590 - $2,900,000  = $649,590

The Premium will be amortized during the life of the bond  to maturity and deducted from the interest expense.

Illusion [34]

Answer:

The correct answer is A.

Explanation:

Giving the following information:

The estimated machine-hours for the upcoming year at 79,000 machine-hours.

The estimated variable manufacturing overhead was $7.38 per machine-hour

The estimated total fixed manufacturing overhead was $2,347,090.

To calculate the estimated manufacturing overhead rate we need to use the following formula:

Estimated manufacturing overhead rate= total estimated overhead costs for the period/ total amount of allocation base

Estimated manufacturing overhead rate= 2,347,090/79,000 + 7.38= $37.09 per machine-hour
