Continental crust is generally older than oceanic crust.

It is because continental crust rarely gets the process of destruction in the process of subduction. The lighter mass of continental crust makes it impossible for subduction or recycling processes.

Further explanation

A. Oceanic crust

Oceanic crust is the earth's crust which is located under the sea and is composed of basalt rock, formed from minerals of silicon, oxygen, and magnesium. The thickness of the oceanic crust is between 5-10 Km, and the density is 3.0 g/cm3. Oceanic crust is younger than continental crust because it always gets a recycle process. The oldest oceanic crust is around 270 years old, and it's located in the Ionian Sea which is part of the Mediterranean sea.

B. Continental crust

Continental crust is the earth's crust that appears above sea level. The thickness is between 30-50 Km. The density of continental crust is around 2.7 g/cm3, lighter than the oceanic crust. The continental crust is composed of granite rocks with minerals such as aluminum, silicon, and oxygen. Continental crust is older than oceanic crust. The oldest continental crust is estimated to be more than 4 billion years old.

When these two plates collide with each other means convergent motion has occurred. The impact of it is the emergence of a bending or sharpening zone called the Subduction Zone.

This process occurs because of differences in plate mass. In the process of collision of continental plates and oceanic plates, the density of the oceanic plate is denser, so that it will bend down to the continental plate.

Answer

Continental crust is generally older than oceanic crust

Explanation

The average density of the continental crust is lower (2.6 g/cm3) than the oceanic crust(3.0 g/cm3). This allows the continental crust to float on the upper mantle. The rocks in the oceanic crust are younger than those in the continental crust. The continental crust is thicker( 35-70km) than the oceanic crust(5-10 km).
