Because our eyes see what's reflected not absorbed. Leaves contain chlorophyll which contains a pigment of green that absorbs red and blue wavelengths, while reflecting green.

Which characteristic is seen in whales, but not in phytoplankton (Cell Wall, Heterotrophic, Unicellular, or Prokaryotic?)
alexandr1967 [171]
Heterotrophic. Only plants have cell walls, so that goes to phytoplankton, andwhales have thousands of cells, so unicellular goes to plankton again. Mammals aren't prokaryotic, so we're left with heterotrophic.

Why does a cell need a LOT of surface area compared to their volume?
german

Answer:

The surface area to volume ratio (SA:V) limits cell size because the bigger the cell gets, the less surface area it has for its size.

Explanation:

This is important if you are a cell that depends on diffusion through your cell wall to obtain oxygen, water, and food and get rid of carbon dioxide and waste materials.

Explain how the structure of the water molecule makes it polar.
kicyunya [14]

Answer:

Polarity of a Water Molecule

Water (H2O) is polar because of the bent shape of the molecule. The shape means most of the negative charge from the oxygen on side of the molecule and the positive charge of the hydrogen atoms is on the other side of the molecule. This is an example of polar covalent chemical bonding.
