The correct answer is C: pleasurable.

Explanation: The synonym for "voluptuous" is pleasurable because voluptuous is characterized as relating to or providing pleasure through the gratification of the senses. It would be used to describe something that is aesthetically or visually pleasing.

How is Canterbury cathedral related to the story of Thomas a Becket ?
olchik [2.2K]

The Canterbury Cathedral is related to Thomas a Becket because Becket was murdered there. Henry II made Becket his chancellor and the two became close friends. When the position of Archbishop became vacant, Henry II made Thomas a Becket the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Henry II wanted to reduce the power of the Church and established the Constitutions of Clarendon which allowed the King to punish a cleric found guilty by the Church. Becket refused to sign the Constitutions of Clarendon and was found guilty of treason. He fled to France and was only allowed to return when the Pope threatened to excommunicate Henry II. Upon his return, Becket excommunicated three bishops who supported Henry. This enraged Henry and he ordered his knights to kill Becket.

On December 29, 1170, Becket was murdered at the altar of Canterbury Cathedral by four knights of King Henry II.

My sister was as quick as a whip during the game. Is this a simile or metaphor
mezya [45]

Answer: simile

Explanation:

My sister was as quick as a whip during the game.

A simile is when two things are compared using like or as. In this case, your sister is compared to the speed of a whip using the word "as" - this means this is a simile.

Well, then what is a metaphor? Put simply, a metaphor is when you say one thing is another. "This pillow is a cloud" or "your cheeks are pink roses."

What might the following description from Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis represent for the Samsa family after Gregor's death?
Morgarella [4.7K]

The above statement reflects the freedom that the family felt after Gregor died.

Due to Gregor's condition, the family was forced to sell off things and find work to earn money for their daily living. They had to take care of Gregor and they felt trapped by him. They wanted Gregor to leave and free them to live their lives the way they wanted to. When Gregor died, they got their wish. Their disregard of Gregor was evident when the cleaning lady was the one who buried Gregor's remains.
