Ollantay is a colonial-style drama of Quechua origin, its original author is Antonio Valdes.

The most accepted position today is that the story told in the drama is of Inca origin, which was long preserved as an oral tradition, until in the colonial era it was adapted for its theatrical staging according to the western mold, although the author or authors of said adaptation remain anonymous.
