Until 1947, when India became independent, India was one country. At the time of independence, <u>religious differences overlapped to the limit and the country was divided in two.</u> Indian, mostly Hindu and Pakistan, mostly Muslim. The partition happened amid clashes that left millions dead. Nowadays, the two countries are considered enemies. The issue has extrapolated religious conflict, so India and Pakistan do not reach agreement on a border issue in the Kashmir region.
Many see the harsh terms imposed on Germany after the Treaty of Versailles as creating economic and social conditions that allowed for the fascism and scapegoating of the Nazi Party to get a foothold in Germany.
