The US government continued to view Indians as a problem even after the Trail of Tears because the Indians had been moved to Midwest and not completely out of the country.

Explanation:

The population of the Indians was still a lot and their opposition to the removal was posing problems for the government. The Trail of Tears was forced relocation of Native Americans so that the whites could occupy the territory.

During this forced removal, a lot of people lost their lives. The government next used the strategy of minimizing the land allocated to Indians. More and more whites settled in the region thereby reducing the territory that Indians could hold.
