Did the Kansas Nebraska Act push America closer to war? Explain why you think it did or did not ?
Vinvika [58]

Answer: The Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854 was a huge catalyst in sending the nation to the Civil War. This act reversed the Missouri Compromise and allowed slavery in the remainder of the original areas of the Louisiana Purchase. The balance of power shifted in the government and across the land.

What was the result of the margin calls from brokers on October 21, 1929?
Fed [463]

Answer:

The right answer is "A panic ensued and people began to sell their stocks, causing prices to dive."

Explanation:

The margin calls made by brokers cause a mini-crash of the market on March 25, 1929. Prices plummeted. There was a temporary solution when some prominent bankers promised they would continue to lend, assuaging investors´concerns.

Explain the political geographic and cultural impact of the treaty of Guadalupe hidalgo
il63 [147K]

After Mexico's defeat on the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo came into action. The U.S. was recquired to pay 15 million dollars as compensation for damages, while taking ownership of the territories of California, half of New Mexico, most of Arizona, Nevada, Utah and parts of Wyoming and Colorado.

Mexicans that were settled in these territories, had the choice to relocate within the new limits of their country, or stay and receive American citizenship with full civil rights. This had quite big implications in U.S. culture as it became more racially diverse. In the following censuses between 1850 and 1920 most annexed mexicans were counted as "white", but in reality, segregation only grew with time and continues to do so until this day, with mexican-native americans being considered foreigners almost universally. At the same time, mexican migration to these areas also continued to rise over the years, making the contrast bigger.

Politically, we can say Mexico wasn't in a bad position in terms of their negotiation power. The U.S. had shown itself hesitant to annex Mexico's territories and having deep domestic divisions in regards to the aims and justification for the expansion. However, the military power of the U.S. overshadowed all of that and their victory was definite. The treaty established a pattern of political inequality between the two countries, and this lopsided relationship has stalked Mexican-U.S. relations ever since.

What was one reason spain sponsored the first voyage of columbus to the west
Mashcka [7]

Answer:

Keep this little phrase in mind: gold, glory, and God. In that order. The reason the Catholic monarchs Isabella and Ferdinand sponsored Columbus was

 • gold. They wanted to get rich off of gold, which would enable them to increase their wealth and trading power as per the economic system of mercantilism.
 • glory. They wanted their names to be famous. Two of the islands that Columbus saw were named after the two rulers (Isabela Island and Fernandina).
 • God. They were highly Catholic (remember the Spanish Inquisition?) and they wanted to spread that, in theory, to the primitive natives.
