"When you calculate the average rate of change of a function, you are finding the slope of the secant line between the two points. f(x) = x2 and f(x + h) = (x + h) Therefore, the slope of the secant line between any two points on this function is 2x + h."

The domain for f(x) and g(x) is the set of all real numbers.
blsea [12.9K]

Hi, here is the solution...

f(x) = 2x^{2} + x - 3 and g(x) = x + 2

(f.g)(x) = f(x). g(x)

= (2x^{2} + x - 3) *(x + 2)

Now use the distributive property, we get

= (2x^{2} + x  - 3)x + 2(2x^{2}+x -3)

= 2x^{3}+x^{2} -3x + 4x^{2} + 2x - 6

Now combine the like terms.

= 2x^{3} +5x^{2}-1x -6                             [-3x +2x = -1x = -x]

(f.g)(x) =  2^{3}+5x^{2}-x -6

That's it. Thank you :)

(g) If each customer takes 3 minutes to check out, what is the probability that it will take more than 6 minutes for all the cus
Alisiya [41]

Answer:

Hello dear,

Your  question is not complete, please paste it complete for better understanding.

Anyhow what i understood from the question, the answer is in the explanation.

Step-by-step explanation:

The mean time between arrivals is 3 minutes. Or else, depending on the way the exponential distribution has been introduced to you, the rate is 1/3.

Recall that an exponential distribution with parameter λ has mean 1λ. So 1λ=3 and therefore λ=13.

A customer has just arrived. Let X be the waiting time until the next customer arrives. Then X has exponential distribution with parameter λ=13. For any positive x,

Pr(X≤x)=∫x013e−t/3dt=1−e−x/3.(1)

Now we can answer the questions. Interpretation is needed, since there are some ambiguities in the questions.

Interpret the question as saying: "Customer Alicia has just arrived. What is the probability that there will be a customer who arrives later than Alicia, but no more than 3 minutes later." Then we want  Pr(X≤3) . By (1), this is 1−e−3/3.

Interpret the question as saying that Alicia has just arrived, and we want the probability that there will be a gap of at least 6 minutes until the next customer arrives. Then we want

Pr(X>6) = 1−Pr(X≤6),

which is 1−(1−e−6/3).

the punking patch its open everyday if its sells 2750 pounds of punkings each dat about how many pounds does it sells in 7 dayas
SSSSS [86.1K]
It's just

2750 times 7

Because they sell 2750 pumpkins a day and the question is how many do they sell in 7 days

So:
2750 x 7 =

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

x = 1/2 (1 +\- i sqrt(23))

Discussion:

x \3x - 2 =   (x/3)*x - 2   =  (x^2)/3 - 2     (*)

1 \3x - 4   =  (1/3)x - 4                               (**)

(*) = (**)   =>

(x^2)/3 -2 = (1/3)x - 4        => multiply both sides by 3

x^2 - 6 = x - 12                 => subtract x from both sides

x^2 -x -6 = -12                   => add 12 to both sides

x^2-x +6  = 0

Using the quadratic formula gives:

x = 1/2 (1 +\- i sqrt(23))

Thank you,

MrB
