X = chips, y = candy

0.55x + 0.75y = 189
x + y = 280

Solve the system of equations by eliminating one variable.

0.55x + 0.75y = 189
0.55x + 0.55y = 154

Multiply the whole second equation by 0.55 so both x's in both equations have the same value. Then subtract the second equation from the first so you're left with:

0.2y = 35
y = 175

Sub this y-value back into either equation to get x.

x + 175 = 280
x = 105

So 105 bags of chips were purchased

(this is my sister on my acc I'm letting her) True or False? When you use a pulley you use less force to pull up a load.Explain
natta225 [31]

Answer:

True depending on what you are comparing it to.

Step-by-step explanation:

A pulley would help lighten the load that you are trying to pull up, which may make it easier for you to get the load to your designated area. The more complicated it is, usually the more 'lighter' it becomes, or the less force you have to exert.

For example, you will have to give a 100% energy in trying to life a heavy box. However, if you use a simple pulley (only one), you may only have to exert 75% more energy, for the weight is significantly lower.

Find the degree measure of each angle in the triangle.
Alex777 [14]

Answer:

 • ∠R = 56°
 • ∠Q = 90°
 • ∠S = 34°

Step-by-step explanation:

The given triangle is a right angled triangle.

So, the angles in the triangle are :

 • 90°
 • (2x + 38)°
 • (5x - 11)°

Solving according to angle sum property,

Sum of all angles in a triangle is 180°

\longrightarrow 90° + (2x + 38)° + (5x - 11)° = 180°

\longrightarrow 117° + 7x = 180°

\longrightarrow 7x = 180° - 117°

\longrightarrow 7x = 63°

\longrightarrow x = 9

Angles =

\longrightarrow 2(9) + 38

\longrightarrow 56°

\longrightarrow 5(9) - 11

\longrightarrow 34°

 • ∠R = 56°
 • ∠Q = 90°
 • ∠S = 34°

The angles are 56°, 90° and 34°.
