In astronomy, the geocentric model (also known as geocentrism, often exemplified specifically by the Ptolemaic system) is a superseded description of the Universe with Earth at the center. Under the geocentric model, the Sun, Moon, stars, and planets all orbit Earth.

HistoryGuy. Control of the Atlantic Ocean was essential to Great Britain's success in World War II because D. Britain was an island nation dependent "on shipping for the supplies it needed." Without access to Atlantic shipping lanes, Britain would have starved and been without war supplies from the Americans. (hope this helps )
