When you get a vaccine it injects a controlled amount of the illness into you, so the immune system can build up an immunity. The memory cells come into play when the illness comes back.
I'm not sure, but I think that its your skin that protects the internal tissues.
It sounds most like a generalized anxiety disorder but there could also be some OCD in there.
