The correct answer is (d) It is smaller and does not give shape to the animal cell.

Animal cells have smaller vacuoles as compare to that of plant cell. It does not decides the shape of the of the animal cell. The main function of vacuoles in animal cell is endocytosis and exocytosis. They store the waste material. In plant cell the vacuoles cover almost 90% of the space and decides the shape of the plant cell as they are filled with water. This helps the plant cell to maintain turgor pressure.

The animal cell has a large number of small vacuoles and their main function is exocytosis and endocytosis. Therefore, option D is correct.

Further Explanation:

The plant cell vacuoles are a multifunctional component that stores water and food for the survival of the plant. <u>The plant vacuoles are </u><u>larger in size </u><u>as compared to the animal cell</u>. It also stores waste materials to protect the cell from contamination. The waste products are later broken down into smaller pieces that are not harmful to the cell. The vacuoles play a vital role in the plant structure. These vacuoles lose or gain water based on the amount of water availability for the plant. A decrease in water content makes the vacuoles shrink. The presence of cell walls helps plant maintain its structure. Once the vacuoles regain the water, the plant attains its normal structure. The vacuoles in plants function as reservoirs for pigments, metabolites, and ions, as well as maintain the cell homeostasis.

The animal cells have vacuoles that are smaller in size but are scattered throughout the cell. In animal cells, the important function of vacuoles is the isolation and removal of waste products from the cytoplasm and other organelles. They generally have acidic pH which helps them overcome any foreign particle and also degrade the misfolded or unwanted proteins sent to the vacuoles. Vacuoles help in exocytosis in which the toxic material is removed from the cell by transporting them to the cell membrane from where it is released out through the cell wall. Vacuoles also help in endocytosis by engulfing the material outside the cell. The engulfed material is them broken down in association with the lysosomes.

A palavra átomo tem origem grega, com o significado de indivisível.Por que esse termo foi escolhido para descrever as partículas
earnstyle [38]
  • Translated from Portuguese language:

"The word atom has a Greek origin, meaning indivisible. Why was this term chosen to describe the particles that form matter? Is the atom really indivisible?".

Answer:

  1.  An atom is termed as the basic unit for generating or creation of the different complex structures, as they are characterized by the different shapes and properties due to position or alignment of the different number of atoms inside the given parameters or are of the object.
  2. It was a belief in the early times that atom is not divisible further in to small sub atomic parts, this concept was improved by the experiments of the cathode ray tube etc.

Explanation:

  • However, the atom is comprised of the following subatomic particles which are as follows:
  1. The nucleus is comprised of the protons(positrons) and neutrons.
  2. While, the outer region or the cloud is comprised of the electrons inside the different shells and orbits.

Answer:

Autotrophs are organisms that use light energy or energy stored in chemical compounds to make their own food.

1st order heterotrophs are organisms that eat only plants

2nd order heterotrophs are organisms that eat herbivores

3rd order heterotrophs: organisms that eat herbivores and other carnivores

Top group: carnivores

Explanation:

Producers are named as such because they produce their own food either by photosynthesis or chemosynthesis. These organisms are called autotrophs and include plants.

There are various levels of consumers. The first is first order heterotrophs, which feed on the producers. These are herbivores and include, for example, a deer feeding on grass.

The next is second order heterotrophs, which feed on the first order heterotrophs. E.g. an owl eating a mouse. These are carnivores

The next layer are also carnivores, third order heterotrophs which eat second order heterotrophs, for example a lion eating a zebra.

Decreasing the saturation of the fatty acid chains on a particular type of phospholipid would result in the formation of _____.
Helga [31]

More fluid bilayers will be formed when the saturation of the fatty acids chains on a phospholipid is decreased.

Fatty acids are present in animals, plants and other microorganisms. They are composed of the carbon chain with carboxyl group at the end of the chain. The fatty acids are the vital components of the lipids, which are the essential fat soluble components. When the saturation level of these acids is decreased, it leads to the formation of more lipid bilayers.

Hence, the correct answer is 'more fluid bilayers'.
