Answer: D) Semicolon.

Explanation: when we write a compound sentence (a sentence that have at least two independent clauses, with different verbs), we can separate the independent clauses in two ways: with a comma or with a semicolon. The comma is used when we have a coordinating conjunction between the clauses (like but, and, or, yet, etc). The semicolon is used in two cases, to separate two clauses that are closely related and when we have a Conjunctive Adverb (like accordingly, also, however, nevertheless, finally, etc), we place the semicolon before the adverb, so the given sentence will be: My sculpture had toppled over during the night; nevertheless, I picked up the pieces and packed them up for school.

Email Etiquette: Do not use emoticons or emojis (for introductory emails<br> Poss e Reasons
creativ13 [48]

Answer:

Identify the purpose of the message and determining what the recipient reading the message has to do.

Focus your objective. Achieve the five I's: Inform, Inquire, Influence, Instruct and Incite.

Focus your content. Don't let unnecessary ideas impose on your principal message.

Email etiquette refers to the principles of behavior that one should use when writing or answering email messages. It is also known as the code of conduct for email communication. Email etiquette depends upon to whom we are writing- Friends & Relatives, Partners, Customers, Superior or Subordinates.

(Explanation:)

Example:

Dear<em> Recipient of email</em>,

I am to congratulate you on your promotion! You have shown me what a real helping hand you have been. You're always helping me and your other associates. I truly am pleased to possess such an employee at our fine establishment. Daren even commented on your great communication, you sure are a great conversationist I'm quite envious, your on-time assembly deliveries, and in-office enthusiasm. You are always on task and exceeding my expectations. Above and beyond that.

I can't wait to see how this promotion will encourage more from you. Keep up the great work.

See you at 12:30 in the break room for congratulations. Remember the organization meeting at 1:40 in offices on the 3rd-floor meeting product room.

Regards,<em> (sincerely, congratulations, condolences, etc..)</em>

Dr. Parkers, client-intel associates office.

Answer: (again)

You should never use emoticons or emojis in a formal introduction, email, etc. considering work environment, jobs applications, interviews, etc. for the reason of professionalism. Unless emailing a friend or close family member/relative it's almost rude to be so informal to a client or work associate. An emoji can also be distracting and pry the receivers attention away from the email or confuse them. It's all about your better judgment. Answer this question, Do you think someone would want to hire you if you use these emojis in a job application and are introducing yourself to them for the <em>first time, </em>'

Please help match the figurative language to the sentences
sladkih [1.3K]

Answer:

1. hyperbole

2. metaphor

3. hyperbole

4. idiom

5. onomatopoeia

6. simile

7. personification

Explanation:

I have been able to match the figurative languages to the sentences in the excerpt.

A figure of speech or figurative language refers to a word or phrase which has a separate meaning that is different from its literal definition or meaning. It's aim is to produce a rhetorical effect.

Hyperbole refers to the figure of speech which uses exaggeration.  In numbers 1 and 3, we see hyperbole: head spinning and taking forever .

Metaphor tends to describe something. It does so in such a way that is not literally true. It compares two things without the use of "as"  and "like". In No. 2: heart skipped a beat.

An idiom is known to be a group of word which does not relate to the literal meaning in that sentence. In No. 4: the apple of my eye.

Onomatopoeia refers to the figure of speech which creates a word that tend to imitate, suggest or resemble the sound that it describes. In No. 5: clangs of pots and pans.

Simile compares two things with the use of "as" or "like". In No. 6: as white as snow.

Personification tends to give human characteristics to inanimate objects. In No. 7: Martha's heart is stone.
