Mary is a line cook at a restaurant and unknowingly has a highly contagious disease, "Syfoid." She hasn’t shown any symptoms h

erself, but she has passed it through the food she handles to several customers who later died. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) traced the disease back to Mary and order her to "appear for testing and treatment as well as to cease all handling of food." When Mary refuses, the CDC and law enforcement arrive at her home and forcibly take her to a hospital where she is quarantined though she was not charged with any crime. Several months later Mary has still not been released from quarantine because she is still communicable, however, she has never been provided an opportunity to contest her quarantine. In the meantime, Mary lost her job. Has any of Mary’s fundamental rights been violated?

Answer: b. Possibly, because she was deprived of her liberty without due process.

Explanation:

Mary has a Constitutional right to due process which means that she should get the opportunity to contest her quarantine. This right is enshrined in the 5th Amendment which asserts that the Federal Government may not deprive a person of their freedoms without due process.

The CDC as a Federal Government arm even when acting in the interest of the people, should give Mary the chance to contest her quarantine so that she may at least see for herself that she might indeed be the source of a deadly disease.

Real property taxes are often assessed on the value of the property at the beginning of the year. when property is sold in the m
sergejj [24]

When property is sold in the middle of year, both the buyer and seller can deduct their pro rated portion of the property tax.

The property taxes are based on the assessed value of the property. So when the property tax is pro rated at the time of the transfer, both the buyer and seller can deduct their pro rated portion of the property tax.

Buyer and seller prorations are often applied during real estate closing transactions to divide the cost of expenses like property taxes. Thus, the buyer gets a deduction for the prorated amount of property tax due after closing, and the seller gets the same deduction for the taxes.

Hence, both the buyer and seller receives the deduction for the real property tax.

Cavy Company estimates that total factory overhead costs will be $660,000 for the year. Direct labor hours are estimated to be 1
Kitty [74]

Answer:

A...=$6.6; B=$3,696 and $5,280

Explanation:

A. To calculate the predetermined factory overhead rate,

Given

overhead costs = $660,000

Direct labor hours = 100,000.

overhead rate = overhead cost/labor hours

= $660,000/100000

=$6.6

B. To calculate the amount of factory overhead applied to Job 345 if the amount of direct labor hours is 560 and Job 777 if the amount of direct labor hours is 800

Given

Job 345 direct labor hours is 560

Job 777 direct labor hours is 800

Therefore

Factory overhead for job 345 = direct labor hours × predetermined factory overhead rate

= 560hours × $6.6

=$3,696

Factory overhead for job 777 = direct labor hours × predetermined factory overhead rate

= 800hours × $6.6

=$5,280

C. Journal entry for April

Add the overheads the two current jobs

$3,696 + $5,280= $8,976

Now record $8,976 in debit column against current work

record $8,976 in credit column against factory overhead

Account debit credit

1. current work $8,976

2. factory overhead $8,976

Answer:

Cost per Unit Fatboy= $ 27800

Screamer Cost per unit = $3779.80

Explanation:

Howrley-David, Inc.

                                        Fatboy Screamer Total

Units Assembled 990 1,980 2,970

Materials cost per unit $ 2,600 $ 3,600

Material Costs 2574000 7128000

Other costs:

Direct labor $1069200 2138400 $ 3,207,600

Indirect materials 534, 600

Other overhead 1,603,800

FoH 712800 1425600 2138400

Total Costs 2752,2000 7484000

No of units 990 1980

Cost per Unit 27800 3779.80

The total costs have been added and then divided with the number of units to get the cost per unit.

Direct Labor Costs =Total Direct Labor Costs/ Total number of units* required number of units

DLC for Fatboy= $ 3,207,600 /2970 *990= $1069200

DLC for Screamer= $ 3,207,600 /2970 *1980= 2138400

FActory Overheads = Total Factory Costs/ Total Units ( Required Units)

FOH for Fatboy= 534, 600 +1,603,800/2970 * 990= 712800

FOH for Screamer = 534, 600 +1,603,800/2970 * 1980= 1425600
