The fourth crusade was a christian expedition carried out under orders of the pope at that moment, Pope Innocent III seeking to recapture Jerusalem which was being controlled by Muslim people, so with that purpose, the Latin Christians decided to first conquer the Egyptian Ayyubid Sultanate.
