If a procedure meets all of the conditions of a binomial distribution except the number of trials is not fixed, then the geomet

ric distribution can be used. The probability of getting the first success on the xth trial is given by P(x)equalsp (1 minus p )Superscript x minus 1, where p is the probability of success on any one trial. Subjects are randomly selected for a health survey. The probability that someone is a universal donor (with group O and type Rh negative blood) is 0.07. Find the probability that the first subject to be a universal blood donor is the seventh person selected. The probability is nothing. (Round to four decimal places as needed.)

Answer:

Given p = 0.07 as the probability that someone is a universal donor

In case of Geometric Distribution, Probability of  getting the first success on nth trial is given by

P (X=n) = p (1-p) ^ {n-1}

where p is the probability of success on any one trial and (1-p) shows the probability of failure.

So the probability of the first subject to be a universal blood donor will be the seventh person is

P (X=7) = 0.07 (1-0.07) ^ {7-1} = 0.07 (0.93) ^ 6 = 0.07*0.647 = 0.0453

So the final probability is 0.0453

The chi-squared test statistic will be 3.11. The test statistic is contrasted with a predicted value based on the Chi-square distribution.

<h3>What is the chi-squared test statistic?</h3>

Finding the squared difference between the actual and anticipated data values, then dividing that difference by the expected data values, constitutes the test statistic.

The formula for the chi-squared test statistic is;

\sum \frac{(O_i-E_i)^2}{E_i } \\\\

Where,

\rm O_i is the observed value

\rm E_i is the expected value

The chi-square test statics is;

\rm( \frac{18-18}{18} )^2 +( \frac{14-18}{18} )^2 + (\frac{24-18}{18} )^2+( \frac{16-18}{18} )^2 \\\\ 0+ \frac{16}{18}+ \frac{36}{18} +\frac{4}{18}\\\\ \frac{56}{18} \\\\ 3.11

Hence, the chi-squared test statistic will be 3.11.

at the movie theater child admission is 650 and adult admission is 990 on Thursday 124 tickets were sold for a total sales of 99
Aleksandr-060686 [28]

Answer:  57

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

First, create a system of equations using the cost as one equation and the quantity as the other.

Let c represent a child ticket and a represent an adult ticket, then

 Cost Equation:      6.50c + 9.90a = 999.80

Quantity Equation:  c + a = 124

I am going to use substitution method to solve by solving the Quantity Equation for c  --> c = 124 - a

and substituting that c-value into the Cost Equation -->

6.50(124 - a) + 9.90a = 999.80

806 - 6.50a  + 9.90a = 999.80

806          + 3.4a         = 999.80

                           3.4a = 193.80

                                a = 57

A satellite at point b is 4,800 miles from point a on earth. Earth radius is about 4,000 miles. segment AB is tangent to the cir
Oksi-84 [34.3K]
We are given the following:
AB = 4800 miles
AO = 4000 miles
There is also a rule that states that a line tangent to a circle, will be perpendicular to the radius of the circle at the point of tangency. Therefore, triangle BAO is a right triangle.

We use Pythagorean theorem to solve for the hypotenuse BO.
BO = √(AO²+AB²) = √(4000²+4800²) = 6248 miles

But the problem asks for the length of BC. Since we know that OC is a radius of the circle, then:
BC = 6248 - 4000 = 2,248 miles.

The answer is C.
