A Compass Rose is a symbol in the shape of a circle that has marked around the directions in which the circumference of the horizon is divided, and that would be south, east, north and west. His invention is attributed to the Mallorcan Ramon Llull, although the detailed description given by Pliny the Elder in book II could have been his basic reference.
