Mendrisio Company purchased a piece of machinery for $30,000 on January 1, 2019, and has been depreciating the machine using the

sum-of-the-years'-digits method based on a five-year estimated useful life and no salvage value. On January 1, 2021, Mendrisio decided to switch to the straight-line method of depreciation. The salvage value is still zero and the estimated useful life is changed to a total of six years from the date of purchase. Ignore income taxes.
Requirements:

a. Prepare the appropriate journal entry (if any) to record the accounting change (include the account and the dollar amount; no abbreviations!)
b. Prepare the journal entry to record depreciation for 2018.

Answer:

a. There is no entry required to record the accounting change

b. The journal entry to record depreciation for 2021 would be as follows:

                                         Debit      Credit

Depreciation Expense $3,000

    Accumulated Depreciation $3,000

Explanation:

According to the given data we have the following:

Sum of year digits=5(5+1)/2

Sum of year digits=(5*6)/2

Sum of year digits=15

Depreciation for year 2019=$30,000*5/15

Depreciation for year 2019=$10,000

Depreciation for year 2020=$30,000*4/15

Depreciation for year 2020=$8,000

Therefore, book value as on january 1, 2021=$30,000-$10,000-$8,000

book value as on january 1, 2021=$12,000

Revised useful life=6 years-2 years=4 years

Therefore, Revised depreciation for 2021=$12,000/4

Revised depreciation for 2021=$3,000

a. There is no entry required to record the accounting change

b. The journal entry to record depreciation for 2021 would be as follows:

                                         Debit      Credit

Depreciation Expense $3,000

    Accumulated Depreciation $3,000

<span>If the MPC is 0.70 and investment increases by $3 billion, the equilibrium GDP will increase by $10 billion.

The GDP is the Gross Domestic Product and the MPC is the marginal propensity to consume. The MPC tracks that a raise in pay will increase consumers spending on goods and services. If there is an increase in spending budget, then the GDP will increase because of more spending power.

Elina [12.6K]
20% down will be $50,000 so the balance will be $200,000 to take out a mortgage for. The higher the down payment the lower the mortgage required and lower payments would ensue also. Also, once one has a mortgage it ie wise to pay it by the week to reduce the interest. Over time this practice makes a difference.

Prime Corp. has an ending balance in the accounts receivable account of $100,000. Prime recorded bed debt expense of $3000. Prim
Lelu [443]

Answer:

True

Explanation:

Prime's net realizable value of accounts receivable = accounts receivable balance - allowance for uncollectible accounts = $100,000 - $7,000 = $93,000

Bad debt expenses have already been debited, so they are no longer part of the allowance for uncollectible accounts.

A manufacturer of industrial sales has production capacity of 1,000 units per day. Currently, the firm sells production capacity
TiliK225 [7]

Answer:

The production capacity the manufacturer should reserve for the last day = 206.00 units.

Explanation:

Normal production = 1000 X $ 10

Normal production = $ 10,000

Spot production = 1,000 X $ 15

Spot production = $ 15,000

p* = 15,000 - 10,000 / 15,000

p* = 0.33

Q = norminv(0.33,250,100)

The production capacity the manufacturer should reserve for the last day = 206.00 units
