Dwight D. Eisenhower, America's 34th president, yearned to travel to Korea to negotiate the end of the Korean War. While America had been involved in the war, this involvement wavered under President Truman and was guided by United Nations forces. Eisenhower was critical of Truman's policies so much so that during his campaign, he emphasized that he would travel to Korea to witness events firsthand. This promise worked, and upon being elected and before taking the oath of office, Eisenhower visited Korea. This was in December of 1952. The Korean War would end in 1953. While the war ended, Korea remained divided. However, with the help of Eisenhower and his policies directed towards China, there was some truce: a cease fire. Hope this helps :)
