The constant ambushes, low supplies, lack of air support, and Mujahideen guerrilla warfare in one of the most unforgiving environments on Earth eventually left the Soviet Union no choice but to withdraw their forces.
The Song Dynasty was so large and that was a factor in the empire's decline. They created so many positions within the bureaucracy and the men in those positions received a generous amount of money.
