Answer: 1.5 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

If Thiago and Brandon move in opposite directions at speeds of 80mph and 70mph then after 1 hour Thiago will have traveled 80 miles and Brandon will have traveled 70 miles.

Since they are in opposite directions then the distance is from

70 + 80 = 150\ miles

Then we know that after t hours have elapsed they are 225 miles

Then we pose the following equation

80t + 70t = 225

Now we solve for t

(80 + 70) t = 225

150t = 225\\\\t=\frac{225}{150}\\\\t=1.5\ hours

If sine of x equals square root of 2 over 2, what is cos(x) and tan(x)? Explain your steps in complete sentences.
kolbaska11 [484]
Sin x =  square root (2) / 2

In order for us to get for cos x and tan x, first we need to know what
Hypotenuse, Adjacent, and Opposite sides.

sin x = opposite / hypotenuse.

adjacent = square root (hypotenuse^2 - opposite^2)
adjacent = square root (2^2 - square root(2)^2)
adjacent = square root (4 - 2)
adjacent = square root (2)

cos x = adjacent / hypotenuse
tan x = opposite / adjacent..

cos x = square root (2) / 2
tan x = square root (2) / <span>square root (2)  = 1

So, </span>cos x = square root (2) / 2 and tan x<span> = 1</span>
