In my opinion, Switzerland comes closer to having a pluralist society. As a federation, it has four national languages (German, French, Italian, and Romansh) that are equal in status, even though the majority of its citizens' native language is German, and Romash is spoken by only 0.6% of the population. Each of the 26 cantons has chosen one or more of them as official languages. The cantons have a very high level of autonomy and independence. So, the society is pluralist because the federal government recognizes the differences that exist among the population, and has engraved those differences in its constitution.
