In his quote he was talking about how, he was proud, that while he was president he didn't have to send any troops into war, or no other territories tried to take over some of the US' for the fact of the matter that he tried to keep it as peaceful as he could while he was president. I think his accomplishments were very spectacular, To this day no other US president has been able to do that. According to some US citizens, he was the "perfect" president, when it came to many things, such as war. Many people such as myself look up to him for the things he has done, I don't want to steal his glory, I just want to have my own for my own reasons.

Hope this helps!

What was the significance of a number of conservative democrats changing their party affiliation beginning in 1964?
Vaselesa [24]
Democrats had been losing elections in what had long been considered solid Democratic territory in the South.  Lyndon B. Johnson, a Democrat who took up the presidency after John F. Kennedy was assassinated, had become associated in the minds of voters with the civil rights movement. The civil rights movement aimed to give black Americans equality.  This did not sit well with white voters in the South.  In the 1964 presidential election, the Republican candidate, Barry Goldwater, won the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina.  Nevertheless, Johnson prevailed and won the election.  But it showed conservative Democrats were willing to shift to the Republican party if they felt it more closely aligned with their views.

Alex73 [517]

The U.S.s stepped up efforts to prevent the expansion of communism in the world.  Apart from that they continue to maintain bases in South Korea in case the North would once again launch an attack.  The Korean war also saw the integration of African Americans into the army, meaning there were no segregated troops during this war.
