Answer: A, planting and harvesting.

Explanation:The first settlers in Jamestown, Virginia were Protestants from England; the territory was named after the king (James I). The settlers had been given any supplies to colonize, thus farming was there only source of food.

Also, because the king had not interfered with their settlement when they first colonized, there was an uproar when he tried to profit off of it.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

The answer is below

Explanation:

The distance between two points A(x₁, y₁) and B(x₂, y₂) on the coordinate plane is given by:

Distance=AB=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

a) Distance between (-3, 1) and (5, 4)

Distance=\sqrt{(5-(-3))^2+(4-1)^2}=\sqrt{8^2+3^2}=\sqrt{73} =8.5\ units

b) Distance between (2, 3) and (4, 5)

Distance=\sqrt{(4-2)^2+(5-3)^2}=\sqrt{2^2+2^2}=\sqrt{8} =2.8\ units

c) Distance between (-5, 7) and (8, 5)

Distance=\sqrt{(8-(-5))^2+(5-7)^2}=\sqrt{13^2+(-2)^2}=\sqrt{173} =13.2\ units

d) Distance between (-2, 4) and (3, -1)

Distance=\sqrt{(3-(-2))^2+(-1-4)^2}=\sqrt{5^2+(-5)^2}=\sqrt{50} =7.1\ units
