Samuel Gompers was founder of The American Federation of Labor (AFL), an organization that only allowed people trained in a particular skill, to become members. Samuel Gompers founded AFL Decmeber 8, 1886, and served as president of AFL from 1886 to 1894, and then from 1895 to 1924, due to his death.
