Some defenders of Prohibition approved the procedure on ethical grounds because they observed extreme drinking as unethical behavior. If alcohol was made unlawful, this would raise the amount of capital which was owned by men and they spent on purchasing alcohol.

Further Explanation

National Prohibition was recommended as a conflicting measure. The amendment's enthusiasts demonstrated that direction should be formed into subsistence for persevering men and not for making liquor. Anti-German predilection supported Prohibition's permission. The Anti-Saloon League denominated Milwaukee's brewers the most critical of all our German competitors and designated their trash Kaiser beer.

Unsuccessfully, the brewing manufacturers maintained that taxes on liquor were spending more for the conflict effort than continued to be liberty connections. Therefore, after Prohibition was authorized, many ethnic Westerns observed beer or wine drinking as an essential part of their production, not as a vice.

The expression of the 18th Amendment outlawed the production, transportation, and sale but not the individual ownership or misuse of intoxicating liquors. Many brewers believed that the prohibition would not pertain to beer and wine. But Congress was dominated by the drys, who supported a comprehensive prohibition on alcohol.

The proponents of Prohibition supported this policy for several different reasons including:

1) Economic reasons- If alcohol was made illegal, this would increase the amount of money that men would have to spend on their families.

2) Religious reasons- Many believed that the effects of alcohol on men resulted in the decreased morality of American society. Alcohol was advertised by the temperance movement as an evil substance that caused men to physically abuse their wife and children.
