Which is an example of incomplete dominance?

Biology

Answer:

A

Explanation:

Incomplete dominance is a genetic scenario whereby one allele does not completely mask the expression of another in a gene, instead, the two parental traits blend to form an intermediate trait. Hence, a third phenotype arises whose physical trait is a combination of both parental's phenotype.

Ideally according to Mendel's law of dominance, an organism receives one form of a gene called ALLELE from each parent i.e. it possesses two alleles. If the alleles are different i.e. heterozygous, one will usually be expressed (DOMINANT allele) while the other masked (RECESSIVE allele).

In this case, a plant with RED flower is crossed with a plant with YELLOW flower, to produce plants with ORANGE flower. This shows that either the yellow or red phenotypes has complete dominance over one another, instead they form an intermediate phenotype (orange) from the combination of both traits.
