The United States is one of the largest countries in the world, with a humongous population, which means there was plenty of workforce for industrial labor.

Alternative B is imprecise. They didn't import workers. There were immigrants, but they weren't brought here to work, they came on their own.

There is no way of telling whether American or European workers were more skilled, and the US has always produced goods rather than import than, for the most part.
