"Hamlet" by William Shakespeare, is considered by some to be a problem play because it contains somber and humorous scenes. Hamlet has been considered a problem play because although tragedy is present in Hamlet's life it cannot be considered a tragedy. It cannot be considered a comedy either even though there are many comic elements. Is was named problem play by a critic, F.S. Boas. It is characterized like this because of its complex and ambiguous tone, and it is situated between the comic and tragic. Hamlet is consumed by insecurities, but his humor helps him deal with his problems. It also contains morally ambiguous characters. Hamlet himself is a morally ambiguous character, because in order to avenge his father he must commit dreadful actions. His actions are morally wrong but his motives are not.

ANEK [815]

Answer: It features a reference to a supernatural being.

In this excerpt, we encounter a myth from the Maasai. This myth states that there is a supernatural being called Enkai, who is a sky god. Enkai has no gender. It can act kindly by giving the people rain, or cruelly by making the earth dry up. The presence of a supernatural being who can control the destiny of humans makes this a good example of a myth.
