The first Queen of England was Mary I or Mary Tudor. She reigned from 1553 until her death in 1558. Many people were unhappy with her reign because she persecuted Protestants because she wanted to convert England back to Catholicism - called English Reformation -.

Because of her persecution, she was called Bloody Mary, she killed more than 200 people. Her half-sister, Elizabeth I was her successor.
