The immediate cause of the revolt of 1857 was the introduction of the Enfield Rifle. because: it is believed that that the cartridge of the Enfield Rifle had to bitten off before use. ... so the introduction of Enfield Rifle had upset the feelings of the Hindus and Muslims which were a major of the Indian population.
