The Civil Rights Movement had the GREATEST impact on expanding the ideals of democracy throughout the United States in the 20th century.

The civil rights movement constituted an organized effort by black Americans to bring racial discrimination to an end and gain equal rights under the law. It began in the late 1940s and ended in the late 1960s. In spite of te fact that the civil rights movement officially abolished slavery, it didn’t end discrimination against blacks.
