Passage

Sports Drinks: Draft

by Tobias Johnson

Both adult and teen athletes are always looking for something to give them a competitive edge. Sometimes they go too far and try supplements that can be dangerous. But athletes can consume sports drinks as a safe way to help them excel in their sports. I run track and I believe that sports drinks have helped me improve my times.

Teens definitely know about the benefits of sports drinks. About 79 percent of teens have consumed sports drinks compared with about half of adults. Also, teens are three times as likely to rate their consumption as heavy (four or more times weekly) or medium (one to three times weekly). Seventy-five percent of teens think these beverages are good general refreshments to drink even when they are not active.

Sports nutritionists disagree on the value of sports drinks. Some reactionary nutritionists stick to the belief that water is better than sports drinks for hydration. They are concerned that sports drinks have too many calories from sugar. That can be a problem but only for teens who consume sports drinks throughout the day and don't reserve them for sports activities. Most sports nutritionists recommend sports drinks as long as they are used as intended. Some recommend water before and during workouts and sports drinks after to replace fluids and electrolytes. Others suggest that athletes consume sports drinks before, during, and after activity, but only for exercise that lasts 60 to 90 minutes. They also say that sports drinks are good to drink in hot weather. Those who recommend sports drinks say that people will consume more of a sports drink than water and that encourages good hydration. They also say that sports drinks replace some nutrients you lose during exercise and that helps your endurance.

Parents usually aren't quick to try new things so they sometimes doubt that sports drinks can help their teen athletes. Even if they think the drinks are okay, parents really don't like what they do to their grocery bills. It's true that sports drinks are more expensive than tap water, but they are about the same price as soft drinks and bottled water. I made a deal with my parents to exchange sports drinks for some of the soft drinks and bottled water that they usually buy for me.

Sports drinks have benefits for teen athletes, but you have to be realistic. You won't get to be a superstar just by what you drink. But sports drinks can be a helpful part of your commitment to eat right and train to achieve the best you can in your sport.

What usually happens during the climax of a story?
Rzqust [24]

The answer is; A.

The climax of a story is characterized by high tension and drama and is considered the highest point in the plot. The main character is usually in a crisis and he or she finds a solution to a major conflict (such as  a hero defeating the villain or evil element). Climaxes are considered to be significant in giving the story an overarching meaning.
