lakkis [162]
He wanted to find a direct water route from Europe to Asia, however he never managed to do that. He did, however, manage to find a new continent. Because he was hell bent on finding India in Asia, he naturally thought that his ship landed in India, and he called the inhabitants Indians, but those were in fact Native Americans. So, he failed in finding a route to Asia, but he found America.

Douglass wrote about his meeting with Lincoln almost 20 years
slamgirl [31]

Answer:

Because of the long time between the two events, there would be possibility of error in exact words and perception of its meaning.

Explanation:

After the twenty long years Douglass might not have a clear picture of what Lincoln had said. There is a high possibility that after this much long time he may have subconsciously or unconsciously modified what Lincoln had said a little to be what he wanted to hear. It is really difficult to recall the same words or meaning from an event, after twenty years of the event actually occurred.

What statement best describes the theory of mercantilism
katrin2010 [14]

Mercantilism was the theory of trade espoused by the major European powers from roughly 1500 to 1800. It advocated that a nation should export more than it imported and accumulate bullion (especially gold) to make up the difference. The exportation of finished goods was favored over extractive industries like farming.
