Hey there,

John Hilton's speech is considered one of the best speeches in history for several factors: <em>he kept his audience engaged, he used vast imagery, his subject matter was important, and his message was clear.</em>

He was set to give a speech before World War ll, and instead of reading what was shown in the monitors he presented the whole thing with what he called "calculated spontaneity" <em>-the ability to make reading sound like conversational speaking.</em>

He demonstrated that it is important to read as if you were talking, and so, to write as if you were talking.

<em>"To read as if you were talking you must first write as if you were talking. What you have on the paper in front of you must be talk stuff, not book stuff".</em> -John Hilton

Cheers

What is the fundamental belief that Roosevelt has about the need for freedom in the world?
vichka [17]

In 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed Congress in an effort to move the nation away from a foreign policy of neutrality.

The fundamental belief that Roosevelt had about the need for freedom in the world states that people in all nations of the world shared Americans’ entitlement to four freedoms:

“The freedom of speech and expression, the freedom to worship God in his own way, freedom from want and freedom from fear”

How does the text describe Polyphemus? How does he treat his guests, and how does this contrast with the treatment Odysseus rece
Mariulka [41]

Answer and Explanation:

The text describes Polyphemus as a giant, one-eyed, wild, violent and man-eater. Polyphemus is a Cyclops and does not treat guests kindly, but devours them in the most violent way possible. This contrasts it with the way Odysseus and the men who accompany him are treated by King Alcinous. That's because Alcinous is impressed with Odysseus and treats him in the best possible way, offering him dinner, riches and even the hand of his own daughter.

This question is about the book "The Odyssey" which shows Odysseus' attempts to return to Itaca, his birthplace.

Alexus [3.1K]

Answer:

a storm came

"a storm may come" would mean that something is going to happen but hasn't happened yet

"a storm will have come" doesn't sound grammatically correct and doesn't suggest that the storm has already happened
