44 + 2x = 70. <------the 2x comes from 2 times the cost of one chair (x) and the       .                               44 comes from the cost of the table. The total is 70 dollars.

2x = 26 <-------solve algebraicelyy(sry about by spelling)

x = 13 <-------this is the cost of only one chair.
