Why would the capture of a french fort of supplies be an advantage

Capturing any fort of supplies would be a great advantage in a war or conflict, mainly because you could use those supplies and whoever the fort wasn’t previously owned by would no longer have those supplies, putting them at a disadvantage and just giving you a better chance of defeating the enemy with the supplies you have taken from them!
