"Finger bowls" are small bowls of water that are used in order to rinse the fingers before, after or between meals. These are commonly used when eating meals that need to be consumed directly with our fingers. In this case, as the food that is being eaten is fruit, it is likely that fruit will make a person's fingers sticky. Therefore, "finger bowls" are passed after the consumption of fruit in order to cleanse sticky fingers.
