Olin [163]

Answer:

A treaty is a formal agreement while an executive agreement is not as formal as a treaty. A treaty is carried on to the successive Presidents while an executive agreement has to be renegotiated every time. An executive agreement is of two types while a treaty is not.

Which turning point do you think had the greatest impact on the great war?
DanielleElmas [232]

Answer:

  • First Battle of Marne—The Turning Point of WW1 (great war)

The <em><u>First Battle of the Marne</u></em> (also known as the Miracle of the Marne) was a World War I battle fought from September 5 to September 12, 1914. It was a Franco-British victory against the German army under German Chief of Staff Helmuth von Moltke the Younger.

The battle of the Marne was a major turning point of World War I. By the end of August 1914, the whole Allied army on the Western Front had been forced into a general retreat back towards Paris. Meanwhile the two main German armies continued through France. It seemed that Paris would be taken as both the French and the British fell back towards the Marne River.

  • Battle of Stalingrad—The Turning Point of WW2

In 1942, Hitler sent an army south in an attempt to capture the Soviet Russian city that had been renamed after the Soviet leader Josef Stalin. Thus, on July 7, started the largest, deadliest, most destructive battle ever fought in the history of warfare.

Generally argued to be the most significant turning point of the war, the Battle of Stalingrad was one of the Wehrmacht's most ambitious operations, in which they committed, and lost, over 400,000 soldiers.

The great strategic turning points in World War 2 , here is my list, explained :

Alessandro Farnese was elected Pope in 1534, when he adopted the name of Paul III.

Due to the <em>Protestan Reformation, </em>an ideological movement started by Martin Luther, his pontificate was marked for uncertainties. Martin Luther criticized the way that indulgence was delivered by both the Pope and the  Church (He believed that the faith in Jesus and not the good acts was the way for getting forgiveness and that the Pope had no authority over purgatory), the position of saints (whose merits weren't supported by the Bible).

He made use of nepotism to make his family wealthier and more socially relevant, naming his relatives as Dukes or Cardinals despite their lack of qualifications.

Nicolaus Copernicus dedicated his book "<em>De revolutionibus orbium coelestium" </em>(On the Revolutions of the heavenly spheres) to Pope Paul III. In this book, Copernicus offered a new model of the Universe where the centre of the Universe is the sun and the Earth is only a planet that, as the rest of the known planets orbits around the sun.

He's well known for his taste on art, reason from which he is considered to be a patron of arts. The most remarkable artwork under his pontificate is "<u><em>The Last Judgement" </em></u> by Michelangelo.

Pope Paul III is also known for being who excommunicated Henry VIII.
