Answer:

The theory of spontaneous generation was created to explain why some life forms could originate from inanimate raw matter.

Explanation:

According to the hypothesis of spontaneous generation some life forms could originate from inanimate (nonliving) raw matter, and life force, a kind of active principle, would allow raw matter to become living being. From this perspective, defended by Aristotle (384-322 BC), from the decaying flesh, insect larvae would emerge through the life force. However, after several experiments this concept was overturned and discredited.

The theory was that living things came from nonliving matter! Which was incorrect and was later replaced.

Bacteria can be classified by shape. For the following bacteria species, give their basic bacterial shape.
Ugo [173]

Streptococcus pyrogenes : Round (or) Ovoid

Paenibaccilus polymyxa:

Aquaspirillum bengal: Helical

Explanation:

  • Streptococcus pyogenes are gram positive, Round shaped, Anaerobic growth bacteria, Non-motile bacteria.
  • Aquaspirillum bengal is helical  in shape with  its composition of  deoxyribonucleic acid  and cytosine. It is Gram negative and chemo-organotrophic. It is also motile with the help of flagella.
  • Paenibacillus polymyxa is also known as Bacillus polymyxa which is  capable of fixing nitrogen. It is found in soil, plant tissues and marine sediments. It has a major role in forest ecosystems and potential future applications as a biofertilizer and biocontrol agent in agriculture.

process requiring energy for the movement of particles across a cell membrane across against the concentration gradient
natta225 [31]
This process is active transport.

Unlike other methods such as diffusion or osmosis, active transport requires extra energy provided by the organism from such as cellular respiration. In addition, they also require a carrier protein, which can change its shape to bring the substance through the cell membrane.

Some examples requiring active transport may include root hair cells absorbing mineral ions, or our small intestine absorbing digested nutrients into our body.

How does vegetative surface type affect amount of runoff
sergejj [24]
(1) Meteorological/Climate factor: -Rainfall intensity -Rainfall amount -Rainfall duration -Distribution of rainfall over the drainage basin. (2) Phsyiographic factors (e.g. watershed) - watershed size -Watershed shape -watershed slope (3) Vegetation - Dense vegetation leads to less run-off while sparse vegetation leads to more run-off. (4) Urban development. - Roads and buildings have do not allow infiltration into the soil. Water will therefore run off directly into the stream, at a very fast rate and in significant volume.
