ldn’t be so stupid. Two years ago, right here on this spot, I had a recurrent dream, too. I dreamed that I should travel to the fields of Spain and look for a ruined church where shepherds and their sheep slept. In my dream, there was a sycamore growing out of the ruins of the sacristy, and I was told that, if I dug at the roots of the sycamore, I would find a hidden treasure. But I’m not so stupid as to cross an entire desert just because of a recurrent dream.” And they disappeared” (p. 69). Often, the allure of traveling to distant lands or trying something new is appealing. Think/write about your own willingness to venture into the unknown.

Answer:

Candy is OK to have every once in a while, but if kids buy and eat the sweet treats every day, it isn’t good for them. Candy usually has a lot of sugar in it, and even though everybody needs sugar, too much of it isn’t good for your body. This is because it converts the excess sugar to fat, which is a big factor in obesity. Sugar can also cause hyperactivity in children, that's where the term "‘sugar rush" comes from. Although sugar gives you a big energy boost, it doesn’t last for a long time, which makes you get super worn out and tired. Candy is also super tempting as children who see it in vending machines will most likely buy it over a healthy granola bar.

Another reason is candy can make bad things happen to your body, but it can also make bad things happen to your academic performance. When kids consume a lot of sugar, a part of their brain releases a hormone called cortisol. Studies show that cortisol makes it difficult to pay attention in class, difficult to sit still, and it makes it hard for children to remember the lessons they have been taught. It also fills their body with empty calories, which leads them to eating more unhealthy foods. Students who don’t eat a lot of healthy foods is a big factor in bad school performance as it lowers your cognitive function.

Most schools think it is OK to sell candy at school and put up vending machines full of candy, soda, chips and less healthy things. This clearly isn't good for children, as soda contains a lot of corn syrup, while chips contain a lot of cholesterol and fat. It’s OK to have those foods, but if you have them every day, then it will be bad for your brain and your body. Schools should put more healthy foods and drinks into their vending machines, such as milk, granola bars, fig newtons, peanuts and sunflower seeds to name a few.

In conclusion, schools shouldn't sell candy to the students. It can decrease academic performance a lot, it can cause hyperactivity, and it can do bad things to them. Instead, they should sell foods that are good for the brain, like fruits and vegetables.

Which description best defines a paraphrase
stepan [7]

Answer:

To put it simply, paraphrasing is a more complex way of making a quoted piece of text or literature your own.

Explanation:

Paraphrasing is when you restate the meaning of a text or passage by altering the words to make it your own. It is most typically used in essays and literature assignments, however, it is also a test on how well you can convey and perceive information. The reason for this is because to change and make a text your own, you have to be able to understand and convey the information relatively well.

What is the effect of the haiku structure on this poem? How does the line structure help describe the subject(s)? And how does a
Natalka [10]

According to a different source, this is the haiku that this question refers to:

From time to time

The clouds give rest

To the moon-beholders.

A haiku is a type of poem that originated in Japan. It is one of its most traditional literary forms, and has existed since at least the 1600s. Haikus are poems that consist of 17 syllables divided into three lines of 5,7 and 5 syllables.

By following this structure, the author achieves several things. First, as the author can only use a few words, the haiku gives the impression that its words have been chosen with a lot of care, and that no other one can substitute them. More importantly, the haiku allows the author to show that even the most mundane things explained in simple ways can hold a lot of beauty and meaning. The line structure helps describe the subject by allowing the author to focus on a single major event or characteristic and explain it in the most vivid way possible.

A haiku achieves a very different effect on the reader than a longer poem. A longer poem transmits a greater variety of emotions, as the author can vary the mood and tone throughout the text. On the other hand, the haiku delivers a single emotion in a faster and more direct way. Therefore, it helps us focus more deeply on the element that the author is describing.
