When a person is exercising, their heart rate will increase to send more blood (containing oxygen) to the muscles working in the

body. After a person stops exercising, their heart rate will decrease to the normal rate. For people who exercise regularly, their heart rate will drop quickly, but for people who do not regularly exercise, their heart rate will stay elevated for a longer than normal time.
