Answer:

C. an explanation of what was being taxed and how much it cost

D. an explanation of why the Americans smuggled molasses

E. an explanation of why the British imposed the Sugar Act

Explanation:

Passage Sample:

In 1733, Parliament ruled that an extra six cents must be added to the price of every gallon of molasses that did not come from an English source. If the colonists actually followed the rules of the Molasses Act, it would have terrible consequences. Molasses from French islands would now be too expensive—merchants could never make a profit. So they would have to turn to the English, who would surely raise their prices. This one law could cripple the entire North American trade with the sugar islands—if, that is, the colonists or the French followed the rules. But of course they did just the opposite.

The Molasses Act accomplished nothing except to make Americans better smugglers. Yet the act was renewed again and again—until the crucial year of 1763. Just as the Molasses Act was due to expire, England completed its victory over France in the global contest known as the Seven Years’ War (the segment of that war fought in North America is often called the French and Indian War). To pay for the war, the prime minister decided to put some teeth into the legislation. Now called the Sugar Act, the law was designed to make sure the American colonists stopped smuggling and paid their sugar tax.

For each pair of the following sentences, identify the selection that best uses plain English and familiar words. In the case th
zvonat [6]

Answer:

B). Attending communication workshops may help advance your career.

D). The director of customer service was unaware that accounting had automated billing.

Explanation:

Word-choice always play a vital role in conveying the intended meaning of a specific message or idea. The use of simple and familiar words help communicate with a wider audience sharply while intricate and complex words are employed to address an educated audience(of that particular domain).

As per the question, options B and D appropriately employ the plain English and standard words as they convey the desired idea precisely in a compact form. This is reflected by the <u>use of active voice and explicit yet specific message like 'attending communication workshops may help to advance your career' that explicitly states the intended idea</u> without fabricating or complicating it. <u>'The director of.....billing' also portrays the idea clearly and directly with the use of simple and usual words</u>. The other two options fail to present the idea in a simple yet familiar language.

The tone starts starts out lonely, like the author says, and turns to cheerful, as the author sees the daffodils.
The words "Fluttering" and "dancing" helped you determine that the author is happy, and the words "wandering" and "lonely" help you determine the beginning tone.

Hope this helps ya
