A line can be measured. Lining up for blocks would mean people form a very long queue, which stretches over the distance of a few blocks.
In this sample response, you have considered the three options: Inferences about the Maori culture, inferences about the Haida culture and your own values and preferences. The evidence about this is the following:
- Inferences about the Maori culture: <em>"The Maori people seem to enjoy conflicts and competition more"</em>. The modal verb "seem" expresses the idea of inference.
- Inferences about the Haida culture:<em> "The Haida people's values are more like my own because the Haida value compassion"</em>. In this case, you are inferring that their culture holds the value of compassion, similar to you own culture.
- Your own values and preferences: <em>"The Haida people's values are </em><em>more like my own</em><em> because the Haida value compassion"</em> and <em>"</em><em>I prefer</em><em> when people are helpful and kind"</em>. In these two instances, you introduce your own values, such as the value of compassion, and your preference for helpful and kind people.
