g you are given three bacterial cultures: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Shigella sonnei & Escherichia coli and you carry out a Tri

ple Sugar Iron (TSI) assay for each 1. The tube for P. aeruginosa shows a pink butt, pink slant with no gaps or breaks in the medium and no black precipitate 2. The tube for S. sonnei shows a yellow butt, pink slant with no gaps or breaks in the medium and no black precipitate 3. The tube for E. coli shows a yellow butt, yellow slant with no gaps or breaks in the medium and no black precipitate Which of these organism can reduce glucose but not lactose and/or sucrose?

Answer:

Test Tube 2 (<em>S. sonnei)</em>

Explanation:

Triple sugar iron agar test is the microbiological assay used to test the fermentation reaction performed by the bacteria. The fermentation process differs based on substrate and the acids formed as a byproduct.

The test is based on the byproduct formed as a result of fermentation. The test tube contains 1% lactose, 1% sucrose and 0.1 % glucose, ferrous sulphate, phenol red pH indicator.

When the bacteria ferment any of the three sugar, the medium turns yellow.

In test tube 1- The tube shows pink slant, pink butt and no black precipitate which indicates that no fermentation took.

In test tube 2- the tube shows pink slant, yellow butt and no black precipitate due to fermentation of Glucose only due to alkali acid reaction.

In test tube 3- the tube shows yellow slant and yellow butt which shows that glucose and either lactose or sucrose has been fermented.

Thus, test tube 2<em> (S. sonnei</em>) is the correct answer.

What is found in group 1 and 4 on the Periodic table
Mazyrski [523]

Answer:

Group 1 - Alkali metals; Group 4 - Elemental Properties

Explanation:

The elements in Group 1 are called Alkali metals and those are: Lithium, Potassium, Rubidium, Celsium, Francium and Sodium and the elements in Group 4 are called: Titanium, Hafnium, Zirconium and Rutherfoundium.

It's important that group 4 has no trivial name like the group 1 does, it belongs to the grouping of <em>transition metals </em>and those metals have several general properties. They are found in the middle of the periodic table.

Help me!! Suppose you must design an experiment to test how a paper airplane's shape affects the distance it will fly. Your plan
Mandarinka [93]

Explanation:

Make a standard, "dart" design paper airplane

Fold your paper into the basic dart paper plane. Fold carefully and make your folds as sharp as possible, such as by running a thumbnail or a ruler along each fold to crease it. Do not bend up the edge of the wings

Throw the plane at least four more times. Each time before you throw the plane, make sure it is still in good condition (that the folds and points are still sharp). When you toss it, place your toe on the line and try to launch the plane with a similar amount of force, including gripping it at the same spot.

Once you have a good idea of how far your plane typically flies, change the plane’s shape to increase how much drag it experiences. To do this, cut slits that are about one inch long right where either wing meets the middle ridge. Fold up the cut section on both wings so that each now has a one-inch-wide section at the end of the wing that is folded up, at about a 90-degree angle from the rest of the wing.

Make paper planes that are different sizes and compare how well they fly.

Try making paper planes out of different types of paper, such as printer paper, construction paper and newspaper. Use the same design for each.

Some people like to add paper clips to their paper planes to make them fly better. Try adding a paper clip (or multiple paper clips) to different parts of your paper plane (such as the front, back, middle or wings) and then flying it

I hope i helped
