The line "And I bet I never shall" said by Herbert White gives a hint that something bad will be going to happen in the future. The sentence is an example of foreshadowing where the event which would going to happen in the future are hinted priorly.

Explanation:

The first wish that the family wished from the Monkey's paw was to get a sum of two hundred pounds. By that money, they could repay the debts of the house. After wishing, the very next day Herbert goes out to work where he meets with a machine accident. The family receives a sum of two hundred pounds as compensatory money from the company. The line said by Herbert "And I bet I never shall" is the evidence that the money which the family would receive as a wish from the monkey's paw would never be seen by him. This was an indication that Herbert would be no longer alive to witness the sum of the money.

What element of the plot is this passage an example of
rjkz [21]

Answer:

Exposition

Explanation:

In these lines, we see an example of exposition. Exposition is the part of a text in which the author presents background information that the reader needs to know before reading the story. Exposition, therefore, is the first section of a text. In this case, the background information that readers need to know is that the setting has recently experienced a very destructive war. The character can remember the period before the war, and how the city was transformed.

Describe a situation when you used a text reference successfully to preview, prepare for, review or locate information you were
daser333 [38]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The last time I used a text reference successfully to preview, prepare for, review, or locate the information I was learning was precisely last week.

I was trying to learn more about the Revolutionary War of Independence, trying to collect some valid information to write an essay. So I had to search on the internet because the school library and the local library are closed. So I search on the internet to look for some secondary sources that could help me do my work.

To do so, I had to use a text reference to search for the proper information and be more specific. Doing this I found very good information about the reasons the American colonists had to start the Revolutionary War against the British troops. I even found something that caught my attention: Thomas Pain's "Common Sense." A pamphlet which ideas served as inspiration for the American colonists.
