Answer:

How many goldfish did Calvin buy?

  • (2 bowls x 6 goldfish) + 3 goldfish in a bag = 15 goldfish

Calculate the number of fish in 1 bowl and in the bag together.

  • (1 bowls x 6 goldfish) + 3 goldfish in a bag = 9 goldfish

Divide that number by the number of bowls.

  • 9 goldfish / 2 bowls = 4.5 goldfish

Calculate how many goldfish are in 2 fish bowls.

  • 2 bowls x 6 goldfish = 12 goldfish

Add that number to the number of fish in the bag.

  • 12 goldfish + 3 goldfish = 15 goldfish

Calculate how many more goldfish are in a bowl than the bag.

  • 6 goldfish - 3 goldfish = 3 goldfish more in a bowl than in a bag

Multiply that number by the number of bowls.

  • 3 goldfish x 2 = 6 goldfish

Calculate how many fish bowls there are.

  • 2 fish bowls

Add that number to the number of fish in the bag.

  • 2 + 3 = 5

The following situations should be considered independently. (FV of $1, PV of $1, FVA of $1, PVA of $1, FVAD of $1 and PVAD of $
taurus [48]

Answer:

Explanation:

(1)

FV = PV x (1 + r)^N

FV = $75,000

PV = $35,000

r = 8%

75,000 = 35,000 x (1.08)^N

(1.08)N = 2.1429

N ln 1.08 = ln 2.1429

N = ln 2.1429 / ln 1.08 = 0.33 / 0.033 = 10 years

(2)

FV = Annual payment, A x PVA

FV = $43,700

n = 6 years

A = 8,000

43,700 = 8,000 x PVA

PVA = 5.4625

PVIFA (6 years, r%) = 5.4172

r=3%.

(3)

PV = Annual payment, A x PVIFA (r%, n years)

PV = $18,000

n = 6 years

r = 9%

$18,000 = A x PVIFA (9%, 6 years) = A x 4.4859 [From PVIFA table]

A = $18,000 / 4.4859 = $4,012.57

First Bank offers personal loans at 7.7 percent compounded monthly. Second Bank offers similar loans at 7.4percent compounded da
Korolek [52]

Answer:

The First Bank loan has an effective rate of 7.98 percent.

Explanation:

we calcualte the effective rate for both loand and check which statement is correct.

<u>First bank:</u>

(1+\frac{0.077}{12} )^{12} = 1 + r_e

(1+\frac{0.077}{12} )^{12} - 1 = r_e

     1.07977643  - 1 = 0.07977 = 7.98%

<u>Second bank:</u>

(1+\frac{0.074}{365} )^{365} = 1 + r_e

(1+\frac{0.077}{365} )^{365} - 1 = r_e

     1.076798729   - 1 = 0.076798729  = 7.68%

Notice tthis isthe effective rate not the annual percentage rate.

So only the statement abour the first bank effectibe rate is true.

How much of the following is taxable? a. Cheline, an actress, received a $6,400 gift bag for attending the Academy Awards Ceremo
Bingel [31]

Answer:

A. $6,400

B. $240

C. $1,000,000

D. $30,000

Explanation:

Requirement A, C, and D:

Prizes and awards are taxable income for a taxpayer. Any awards or prizes won from the lottery or television should be added to the income. Therefore, the Winning lottery is a taxable income for Kerry, $1,000,000. Again, Receiving the award for scientific research is also taxable income for Deborah, $30,000.

The winning award for accomplishments is also a taxable income. So, receiving a $6,400 worth gift bag is a taxable income for Cheline.

Requirement B:

There is an exception if the award is for tangible property and a long-years of accomplishment. At that time, the taxpayers will be excluded from some part of the necessary amounts to be paid as tax. If it is not a qualified award, the exclusion will be $400. If it is qualified, the tax exclusion is 1,600. Since Jon received a gold watch for 25 years of service and the gift is not qualified, he has to pay tax for $(660 - 400) = $240.
