Japan Was at war with the united states because they attacked the U.S on pearl harbor 1941 and over time was losing battle after battle until 1945. They surrendered after the 2 nukes that were dropped on them but mainly was scared of the Russians so they surrendered fast to the western allies.

When a country tends to function well, poverty should be rare and shameful because there's no good reason to be poor since the economy of that nation is prospering. Poverty there will be looked down upon. When a counties’ government is dysfunctional, it is shameful to be rich because you are exploiting a crooked system and don't care about the political structure of the country. In other words their priorities are not right.
